A self help Video Program by the Relational, Emotional Difficulties Service (REDS)

Welcome to Mindfulness:

Being mindful is a skills that can be acquired.  If we are mindful, it means we can slow down our mind, to notice what is going on, how we are being pulled to respond, and gives us a chance to make a decision about how we want to react.

Some people immediately love mindfulness, whilst others find it frustrating and difficult.  We invite you to dip in, try to understand ‘why’ mindfulness can be a helpful concept, and allow yourself to develop the skill at your own pace.   If you are struggling with Mindfulness, skip to the next module, and then come back to Mindfulness at a later date.

How should I go about the module?

Consider downloading information sheet which you can keep as a reminder. Then, work your way through the Learning Activity where we introduce Mindfulness.  Please be aware that all the modules begin with a Mindfulness Practice – we invite you to try them – there are lots of different types and we hope you will find something that works for you.

Welcome to Distress Tolerance:

Distress Tolerance skills are things to do when you are in an emotional crisis.  If you were to rate the intensity of your emotions out of ten, Distress Tolerance skills are for when you are scoring an 8, 9 or 10 out of 10.
