What is Single sign on?

Single Sign On (SSO) is just a short way to say that you can use one set of login details in many places. You will already be using it when you log into a CPFT computer and are instantly able to access things like the intranet.

Why would you request SSO on CPFT Academy?

If you would prefer not to have to remember or reset your password on CPFT Academy, then Single Sign On means that your account will connect you without having to enter your username and password by simply clicking 'Log in with your CPFT credentials'.

Is there a reason not to make the switch?

It really depends on how you access Academy. If you frequently connect via a non-work device then you might find that having to do your two step authentication (usually getting a text message or phone call after you sign in) is about the same as keeping your Academy account details saved or remembered.

Is it secure?

Yes, the same security protocols that apply to your CPFT credentials apply to Single Sign On for Academy. Usernames and passwords are transmitted securely, and we hold minimal data about you for your CPFT Academy account, only that necessary for managing your training, education and development resources.
