Resuscitation courses at CPFT
Basic Life Support
Many job roles at CPFT require up-to-date knowledge and skills relating to resuscitation. For the majority of staff the appropriate level is Basic Life Support (BLS), which is offered in two parts:

- Basic Life Support - a half day face-to-face session for new staff and staff who have not completed a face to face session in over 12 months
- Basic Life Support refresher - an e-learning refresher package for staff who are up-to-date on resuscitation training.
Basic Life Support
Choose the session appropriate for your work area and follow the booking instructions on the course page:
This course is a face-to-face session, which includes practical activities in addition to theory, and covers includes Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and Anaphylaxis.
Basic Life Support Refresher
If you have taken the BLS face-to-face session in the past 12 months you are eligible to complete the online refresher to maintain mandatory training compliance:

Immediate Life Support
In order to refresh your knowledge and skills in immediate life support as part of your clinical role you are offered training:
Medical Emergency Response Course (MERC)
Choose a session from Medical Emergency Response Course (MERC)
Please note: this course is not directly interchangeable with the ILS as delivered by the Resuscitation council although it does cover the required learning outcomes for ILS.
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
And for staff members requiring ALS as part of their role it is recommended that you arrange with your team manager to book a place on the courses offered by Resuscitation Council UK: https://www.resus.org.uk/information-on-courses/
